Homebrew rule for D&D Poison
Basic poison
In order to craft a basic poison, the crafter must make a check with their alchemy tools. The DC for crafting the poison and the effect is shown below. A basic poison lasts for 1 minute once coated on a weapon.

Craft DC 10 | When a victim takes damage from a weapon coated with this poison, the victim must pass a DC 10 Constitution save or take 1d4 poison dmg |
Craft DC 13 | When a victim takes damage from a weapon coated with this poison, the victim must pass a DC 12 Constitution save or take 1d4 poison dmg |
Craft DC 16 | When a victim takes damage from a weapon coated with this poison, the victim must pass a DC 14 Constitution save or take 1d4 poison dmg |
Craft DC 19 | When a victim takes damage from a weapon coated with this poison, the victim must pass a DC 16 Constitution save or take 1d4 poison dmg |
Craft DC 22 | When a victim takes damage from a weapon coated with this poison, the victim must pass a DC 18 Constitution save or take 1d4 poison dmg |
Advanced poisons
These poison rules relate to the poisons found in the Dungeon master guide on page 257 - 258.
Once applied to a weapon the poison is effective for one minute until the first hit after which the poison is expended.
Harvesting poisons
When trying to harvest a poison it takes 1 day if the character is searching an area for the ingredients for the poison.
If the character has slain a beast that can be harvested for poison or found an ingredient of poison the harvesting time is 1d6 minutes.
When trying to harvest a poison the character must use the harvesting rules as found in the Dungeon masters guide page 258.
